Bungalow Final Project + Freedom

Kyaaaa!
FINALLY IT'S MY HOLIDAYS!
WOHOOO!! Now I can do all the
things that I want to do!
Like sleep, read mangas, watch animes,
play games, go out with friends, etc.
ngehehehehe

It's the 6th of January (2011) today
and it's a Thursday
Surely almost everyone
is schooling and working
right now and I'm like the odd one
(=w=)

First, let me talk about the
Bungalow project that my group
have been working on.

This Bungalow
project is for our
Principles of Architecture & Design class
and it carries 50% marks
which is kinda....suicidal...
because all of the students in class
didn't want the final exams
instead they want the bungalow project
as their final....I told them it's suicide..
but majority picked it (=w=)
oh well...

So here are some pictures:
+More pictures in my facebook+
This is the first try
Epic Failure
If you've read my previous post
I mentioned about this try
where we tried the bending method
(all sides are bended then glued)
but it turned about badly

This is the 2nd try
2nd Epic Failure
This time we tried to stick the walls
one by one.
It was a success but then
we had troubles regarding the doors
and windows and decorations.
So.....it was a fail...

3rd attempt
Success!!
This time, the measurements
are all doubled the actual length
because the previous one was too small
and it's really hard to work on a small house.
We added snow to it :3
since we didn't have enough material to
do the green grass and green trees
and at that moment I had a whole
lot of cottons...so why don't we make it snow?
hahahahahaha

This is the back view
Look! there's a snowman :D hahahahaha

We did this in just 4 days:
1st day - 1st storey

2nd day - 2nd storey

3rd day - roof, patio & porch

4th day - snow

The 4th day was yesterday
and yesterday was the submission date
for this particular bungalow.
It was a good thing we finished it on time XD
hahahahaha

-----------------------------------------------

Now there's no more assignments
left to be done and no more
exams to attend.
That means it's HOLIDAY for me!!

So yesterday after submitting
the bungalow project to the admin.
My sweetheart and I
went to watch Gulliver's Travel
in 1borneo :D

It's a story about a guy named Gulliver
travel to the Bermuda Triangle
and found himself surrounded by
little people who lived in a town called Liliput.
Staring Jack Black.
It's a really cool movie :D
and funny as well XD hahahahaha
I was really entertained

Aside from that
nothing extraordinary things
happened besides going home to sleep.

That's All For Now!
Thank You For Reading!

30th of December, 2010 - Class??

A really nice
'roundabout'-hallway photo
in my college (Cosmopoint I.C.T.)

Yesh, we had class today.
It's a Thursday today by the way
and tomorrow is Friday!
damn how time passes by so quickly
(@w@)

I had two classes today:

Principles of Architecture & Design
We didn't have any lectures
during this period
because the lecturer
only wanted to see our
progress on our
bungalow model

So this is my group's
incomplete bungalow model
As you can see
we rebuild another one
If you've read my previous post
you'll know why XD hahaha

This is our second attempt to
build the bungalow model
This one looks more neat
then the previous model
in my opinion that is.

The left side is the garage
by the way...

We couldn't complete the back of the house
because our double-tape ran out XD
and I can't bring it home
because it's not completed yet

This was how the classroom
looked like
There are more students actually
but they haven't arrived yet
at that moment.

Voo (left) explaining his team members,
Joey (up) and Ledister (down)
about their bungalow planning

History & Theory of Architecture
We learned about Christian,
Byzantine & Islamic Architecture
during this class.
There were a lot of terms
to remember.

Christian Architecture
basically focuses more
on the early churches
and of course the history
behind it.

History
Christian churches were created
by a process of rejected various precedents
such as the Greek Temple
Roman public building (architecture)
and the Synagogue (Jewish house for prayer)

Early Christian Basilicas
Basilica is a large and an important church
that has been given special ceremonial rites
by the Pope.
However, another meaning for it
is that it is describe as a
Roman public building,
which is before the Roman Empire
officially became Christian.
It is developed from Roman
secular basilica

St. Apollinare Nuovo, Ravenna, Italy

Apse : contain altar place
Entrance : opposite short wall
Wall : finished with mosaics

Later church introduce Cathedral:
church contains the seat or cathedra
of a bishop and priests,
often larger or more elaborate
than ordinary churches.

Martyria
A large area used for
ceremonies & celebrations.

--------------------------------------------
Honestly, I literally want to talk more
but I'm just so so tired and so so sleepy
that I can't really focus on editing this post anymore.
Maybe I'll edit it some other day eh?

So let me just briefly
talk about what we learn
first...Christian Basilicas
second.....Byzantine Basilicas
third......Islamic Architecture (Mosque)
and that's it XD

Christian Basilicas were
influenced by the Roman basilicas

The Byzantine Basilicas
mainly influenced by the
Christian Basilicas while adding
a dome on top of the Basilica

The Mosque is an influenced
from the Byzantine Basilicas
where there's a dome on top of the building.
Early mosque a.k.a. Shrine
like the dome of rock
has 16 piers and columns
in a circular shape
and outside the circular shape
is an octagon shape with
24 piers and columns.

The octagon shape is influenced
from the Christian baptistery
baptism tank
which is in a shape of an octagon
to resemble the resurrection
of Jesus Christ on the 8th day
after his death on the cross.

Sorry for not applying
pictures to make the information
more understandable.
and yesh I'm writing this
without referring to any notes
as I am writing it spontaneously
What I have written is based
on what I remember for the chapter.
-------------------------------------------------------
I would really love to
talk more about the
Christian Architecture
because I've found a lot of
informative materials and
I can just tell you in person
if I can....
there's so many to talk about
like the Martyrium, the Martyr,
and about the Martyrdom.
Also the differences between
a basilica, cathedral, chapel,
mausoleum and a martyrium

But because of the end
of the year 2010 is approaching
so I can't really delay this post.

That's All For Now!
Thank You For Reading!

4th of December, 2010 - Saturday :D

I would describe my room
to be like this messy
(=w=)

It's a Saturday today
and I was supposed to have
2 classes with Mr. Raed from KLMU.
But unfortunately,
the classes was canceled
and I was already at college
when they told me about it.
Oh well
hahaha XD

ADA 103
Principles of Architecture & Design

Today we were supposed
to hand in our models
but since our classes were canceled
so I sent him a photo instead :D

This is my group's work:
Didn't manage do add
some landscapes
because of the insufficient
materials that we had *sobs*

When looking at it for the first time
You may not know
what our assignment was.
Our assignment was to build
an object regarding the concept
'Stable' & 'Unstable'

The building at the left side
of the picture represents Stable
and the building at the right side
represents Unstable.

Stable Building Idea:
Ahmad Kuzaimi S.
The building is somewhat
said to be a museum

Unstable Building Idea:
Francess D. R. [me]
Firstly it was supposed to be a house
Then it turned out to be like a company's office

--------------------------------------------

So instead of having class
I went home and checked my mails
Then I went to bed and woke up
6 hours later XD hahahaha

Plants Vs Zombies

I started playing it in
2008/2009
At that time,
my brother was the one
who introduced me to this game.
Ever since then I got addicted to it.
However, there was a certain time
when I stopped playing.

Watching my brother
as well as his girlfriend
play this game somehow
made me want to play it too XD
So now I'm playing it for like,
the 3rd time now.
hahahaha

It's a strategy game
where you have to plant plants
to fight zombies and keep them away
from eating your brains.
It's really fun :D

-------------------------------------------

Aside from that
Nothing unusual happened today

-------------------------------------------

That's All For Now :D
Thank You For the Visit!

22nd of October, 2010 - Green World Work II + 2 New Classes

Cosmopoint International College of Technology,
Wisma Times, Inanam, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

So first I'll be talking about
our 2 new (but actually was delayed) classes.
There are:

ADA 103
Principle of Architecture & Design
on Fridays at 9am-11am

ADA 123
History & Theory of Architecture I
on Saturdays at 9am-11am

Everyone (in my field)
was making a fuss on this classes
especially the one that's on Saturdays.
I didn't really care about their complains
because I have no problems having classes
on Saturdays since I'm used to it
since my former secondary student life routine
was much more hectic than this.
I guess there's an advantage for me there XD

and Yay!
now we have 5 classes instead of
3 classes with 2 classes delayed XD
Both of the classes are taught by
Sir Raed M. A. Elottol
who is a lecturer from KLMU
and he originated from Palestine.
He told us that he is still
looking for qualified local lecturers
to teach us this subjects.
From his explanation,
it seems that he's pretty strict
with the interview and said it was
tough to find local lecturers that could teach us.
...sigh...it's so sad for us...
but I love the way he teaches us :D
it's really affective and easy to understand
although some of them
we sort of already learned them
in Visual Communication in Design
and we have no idea why we're taking
these two subject that talks about
almost the same thing.
But I guess it's to strengthen
our knowledge on that particular content
so that we're able to use it in the later future
*shrugs*

I don't really mind coming to these classes
since it's really interesting
and I do it for my GPA pointer :D

So for our first class of
Principle of Architecture & Design class
we learned about the basic things
in Architecture & Design
Which is the Rules of Architecture
and the 4 Basic Elements

Rules of Architecture
can go up to 1000 rules or more.
But for our class, our lecturer
gave us 5 rules to memorize.

:1st Rule:
Nothing is beautiful
and not beautiful

:2nd Rule:
Points must attract

:3rd Rule:
Entrance must be different

:4th Rule:
Design must reflect function

:5th Rule:
Designers must consider
the visual weight of the object

Sorry but no explanation
for this because I think
I'm violating the rights of sharing this info.
How I wish I'm being paid for this.

So the 4 Basic Elements
What are they?

1. Point
-It marks a position in space
-Small object can be seen as a point
-It needs some dimension
to attract attention

2. Line
-It extends a point
or others/edges in one

3. Plane
-Extension of one or more line

4. Volume
-It is a 3D extension of a 2D plane

Then bla bla bla
laughed here and there
was amazed by the presentation
bla bla bla we exchanged our emails
with Sir Raed and bla bla
end of class XD

Next class was
ADA 101
Design Communication 1
We had a 3 hours break
so I used that time to finish up
my Green World assignment
but it wasn't finish even after
30 minutes of class.
When it was finally done,
I was like "Wohoo!"
with both hands raised high :D

So this is the result:
I was kind of surprised
when I took a photo of this artwork of mine
with my camera, because I just LOVE
the water effects!
(which I made solely with poster colour)

Before I took the photo
to me I thought my artwork
was lame and boring.
hahahahahhaha
Guess I was wrong eh?

Still remember about my last post?
It's the same thing
only that it's done.

(based on my last post)
This was before it's done:

Although I received a lot of
compliments from my classmates
but Sir Kennedy said that
the method that I used
was wrong.

He said it was okay
only that the problem
was the hatching on the
poster colour,
which is sort of not allowed :P
He told me if I want
to make it look darker,
I should have used a darker tone,
which....I....forgot....harharhar...

"Wear Your Seat Belt" campaign

I guess that's all for now
Oh! FYI the photo of me is just for fun
because I was bored when I was stuck in the jam
hahahahahahahaha XD nice eh?
harharhar~

Thank You For Reading!
